Upcycling Workshop

We love fashion, but we also know that so many products come at the expense of marginalized people and the environment. There’s no easy answer to this complex situation, but one creative, fun solution is to upcycle unloved clothing into something brilliant again! That’s why this year, as part of Fashion Revolution, we’re creating a free event just for that.

Together, punktpunkt, kim goes eko, and AB Småland are providing an upcycling workshop on Thursday, April 26th! There, you can repurpose tired clothing and textiles into something loved again. Swap materials with each other, use what you bring, or just grab something from our pile!

No need to register––just come over from 16.00 onwards. All skill levels welcome!
Bring your own clothing and/or any textiles you have lying around, and we’ll help you transform them! Feel free to swap textiles at the workshop, too.
If you don’t have anything, that’s ok, too––we’ll have a small table of textiles you can choose from.
We’ll provide sewing machines, scissors, thread, pins, and other necessary equipment. For those who feel intimidated by a sewing machine, here are some beginner-friendly ideas for you:

While this is a free event, our Fashion Revolution Malmö volunteers will happily receive any contributions to covering the costs of materials and organizing.

Fashion Revolution is a global movement catalyzed by the tragedy of Rana Plaza on April 24, 2013 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. More than 1,100 people died in that garment factory collapse, and many more were injured.

Sadly, this is not an uncommon occurrence. Poor factory conditions are often well known to the corporations that provide their contracts. This event was a final straw for many in the fashion community, and soon after, the organization was created in the UK.

While Fashion Revolution is a year-round movement, every year around April 24th, we observe a global week to raise awareness and participation.
